We picked up our miniature dachshund from Candy Kennels, The facilities are a doggy heaven, out in a rural area on a farm and they have lots of outdoor space and things to play with. The puppies were kept in a separate area with a lovely bed with their mum. They had been well socialised already by the time we picked up our new puppy. Leah is a fantastic and passionate dog breeder who cares for the puppies wellbeing first and foremost to produce healthy puppies. Our puppy had been checked by the vet and had her first vaccinations and we were sent home with lots of useful tips for a happy first few days and a care pack. Leah is always available for help after we brought her home. While we were a little nervous of this breed as they are known for behavior issues, we have not experienced any of this with our puppy. She is happy, healthy, non-aggressive and only barks at the couriers or if our cat is refusing to play with her. She walks lovely on the lead and is great with children. We would highly recommend Candy Kennels should you be seeking a miniature dachshund, it will change your life! Portia McKenzie

Leah was lovely from the start and gave us weekly updates of photos, videos and voice messages until we could pick up our wee boy a few weeks later. Candy Kennels is a beautiful property in Waihi with amazing facilities for all the dogs. Puppies are loved, well taken care of, socialised and in beautiful healthy condition ready for their forever homes. On pick up, our puppy had just had a bath and we were given a big bag of goodies including a blanket, toys and treats to come home with. He had been given his first vaccination, been wormed, and we were given his vet book. Since bringing him home we have all fallen in love with our well behaved, relaxed little boy and couldn’t imagine life without him. We had a wonderful experience dealing with Candy kennels, where we were kept informed at each stage of the process. Leah was great to deal with, and her knowledge, and love for her mums and pups was very evident to us. She helped us choose the right puppy to suit our family and we got a weekly update once she was born so we could see her grow and progress.
